At the 1st European Logistics Summit in November 2008, global industry players signed an industry-wide declaration on the future of logistics policy in Europe. The declaration formed the basis for the creation of the AEL and recognises the crucial role of logistics in achieving Europe's economic and environmental goals. The Declaration has been presented to the European Commission's Directorate General for Transport and Energy, Europe's foremost regulator in the field of logistics.
